How MotorVandy keeps buying and selling safe
Classic cars and bikes are big purchases. These are the checks every seller and listing goes through before it reaches you.
Registration card verification
Every listing comes with a photo of the vehicle's registration card (Geran). Before the listing goes live, our team checks that the registration details match the car being advertised.
Registration card images are used for verification only. They are never shown on the listing or shared with buyers.
Seller identity verification
Before a seller's first listing goes live, they verify their identity with their IC or passport details and a photo of the document. This helps keep fake sellers and scam listings off MotorVandy.
ID documents are treated as sensitive data, seen only by our trust & safety team, and never published.
Admin-approved listings only
No listing appears on MotorVandy until a MotorVandy admin has reviewed and approved it. When a seller edits a live listing — including changing its photos — the changes are reviewed again before buyers see them.
Listings that don't meet our standards are rejected, and the seller is told why by email.
Phone numbers kept private
Phone numbers are hidden by default. A seller's number is only shown to signed-in members, and only after the seller chooses to reveal it — so it isn't scraped or exposed to the whole internet.
Tips for buyers
- View the car in person, or send someone you trust, before paying anything.
- Check that the chassis and engine numbers on the car match the registration card.
- Get a Puspakom inspection before the ownership transfer.
- Never pay a deposit to hold a car you haven't seen, and be wary of prices that look too good to be true.
- Complete the JPJ ownership transfer properly — our partners can help with the paperwork.
